Payroll Specialist Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of payroll principles with at least 3 years payroll experience; preferably 5 or more years of experience in a corporate setting responsible for multiple sites in multiple states
  • Knowledge of automated schedulers and Time & Attendance systems
  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes and GL entries
  • Solid customer service skills and team player
  • Strong ability to analytically review, identify root causes and develop plan of resolution
  • Good organization skills, as well as an ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines and deliver high quality work
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required/strong utilization of Excel

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Processes high volume payrolls for multiple locations in multi-states/tax jurisdictions
  • Provides excellent customer service to employees across all functions of the company as well as partners with internal departments and external parties
  • Receiving, supporting, and tracking daily payroll phone calls
  • Complies with Company polices as well as federal and state laws and regulations
  • Creates reports and audits as necessary
  • Reviews, responds to and processes garnishments
  • Maintains accruals
  • Assists with 401(k) program, year-end testing and audits
