Maintenance Worker Summary: The overall purpose of the Maintenance Worker position is to provide assistance in the care of the facility physical plant and grounds. We are looking for a Medication Tech to work a 12-hour Shift.

Certified Medication Tech (CMT) Summary:

• The overall purpose of the Certified Medication Tech (CMT) position is to administer oral and topical medications to residents.
• This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations.
• Must perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort and well-being of the residents.

Certified Medication Tech (CMT) Requirements:

• CMT Certification
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Certified Medication Tech (CMT) Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs Nightly Audits, filing Medical records.
• Charge CMT will manage CNA assignments.
• Performs resident care responsibilities in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort consistent with MGM Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations.
• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of “five rights” of medication administration. Administers and records all medication given to residents’ based upon their specific chart.
• Notifies appropriate licensed staff when a resident complains of pain.
• May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed.
• Answers resident call lights, anticipates resident’s needs and makes rounds to assigned resident under the supervision of a licensed nurse or charge nurse on the shift.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift.
• Performs all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Support and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Reports to the professional nurse when leaving and returning to unit
•  Monitor stock of Central supplies and restock clean Utility rooms as needed
•  Assist patients in maintaining optimum nutritional status by hydration pass
•  Assist residents to and from dining room.
•  Assist staff in dining room by passing trays and preparing (cutting) food.
•  Work with dining room personnel to ensure that all residents get the correct meals and that all residents are able to eat
• Makes observational rounds as directed by the charge nurse.
• Engage in housekeeping tasks such as replacing linens on beds, cleaning patient rooms and removing and replacing trash bags
• Contact Residents family members as requested
•  Wheelchair cleaning
•  Accompany residents as needed to various activities and functions.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
•  Demonstrate understanding of and utilize proper infection control policies/practices.
• Maintain a clean, safe and secure environment for patients.
•  Act in compliance with all corporate, state, federal and other regulatory standards.
•  Attend meetings and in-service sessions as directed.
• Notifies professional nurse as soon as possible of situations or circumstances occurring which may interfere with the completion of assigned duties within the designated shift.
•  Participate in the quality improvement process by responding appropriately to results of medical records audits, patient satisfaction requirements.
• Will participate in the facility safety program and assist in promoting the awareness of safety issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Nurse Managers to meet the needs of the residents.
