Director of Nursing – DON Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care to residents in a manner conductive to their safety and comfort consistent with Company Clinical Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations.

• Notify physician of changes in resident’s condition and follow through until appropriate action is taken.

• Plan and coordinate with Administrator, utilizing the respective service managers for planning the budgeting requirements for staff, performance of work, supplies, and equipment.
• Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved department budgets.

Job Description

The overall purpose of the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) position is to administer oral and topical medications to residents. This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Also, must perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort and well-being of the residents.

Certified Medication Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs resident care responsibilities in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort consistent with MGM Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations.
• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of “five rights” of medication administration. Administers and records all medication given to residents’ based upon their specific chart.
• Notifies appropriate licensed staff when a resident complains of pain.
• May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed.
• Answers resident call lights, anticipates resident’s needs and makes rounds to assigned resident under the supervision of a licensed nurse or charge nurse on the shift.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift.
• Performs all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Support and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.

The overall purpose of the Housekeeper is to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as may be assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Housekeeper Responsibilities:

• Mop
• Sweep
• Dust
• Wash windows
• Shampoo and vacuum carpets
• Arrange furniture
• Generally clean furniture, equipment, fixtures and hardware
• Other duties may be assigned.

Laundry Aide Competencies:

• Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap or other cleaning agent. Turns valve to fill washer with water.
• Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles. Removes lint following three (3) loads.
• Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into wringers and dryers for measured – time cycles.
• Sorts dried articles according to identification numbers or type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage bins.
• Lubricates machines.
• Dissolves soap granules in hot water and steam to make liquid soap.
• Mends torn articles. Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists. Iron required items.
• Soaks contaminated articles as per policy.
• Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula. Dyes and bleaches specified articles.
• Able to read and understand equipment operation manuals.
• Performs all aspects of duties and responsibilities in a manner that optimizes resident safety.
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Assures that sanitation and quality standards are met; including the identification and correction of safety hazards.
